From: Jill Cleveland
To: WPCtestimonv
Subject: Bill 121 Testimony-Quiet Hours and Homeowner Fairness
Date: Tuesday,April 2,2024 2:53:04 PM
Aloha Windward Planning Commission,
My name is Jill Cleveland, and I want to express my concerns regarding the quiet hours proposed in Bill 121. The
notion that my family and I would have to abide by a different set of standards on our property just doesn't make
sense. We have a rental, sure, but it's also our home.We cherish our island's peaceful evenings as much as anyone,
and like most folks,we're considerate of our neighbors. It's quite puzzling to think that while our property serves as
our family home, not a rental,we would still need to follow these restrictive quiet hours. It seems unfair to impose a
separate standard for homeowners who occasionally rent out their homes. Our ability to enjoy our property shouldn't
be limited by rules designed for rentals when we are the ones staying there.I firmly believe that the existing state
noise ordinances are sufficient and that additional restrictions are unnecessary. We need a policy that recognizes the
difference between a home in use by the owner and a rented space. Let's keep things straightforward and fair for
everyone.
Warm regards,Jill Cleveland
