As a <br /> resident deeply invested in the well-being of our island, I believe it is crucial to address <br /> these issues with a balanced approach that respects the rights of property owners while <br /> also considering the broader community's needs. <br /> First, the enforceability of the proposed regulations raises significant concerns. It is <br /> essential to ensure that any new rules are practical and do not place an undue burden <br /> on the Planning Department's resources. Overstretching our human resources could <br /> lead to inefficiencies and detract from other critical areas that require attention. <br /> Secondly, the bill introduces inequities that could disadvantage certain property owners, <br /> particularly those who do not reside on their properties but still maintain a close <br /> connection and responsibility towards them. Equal treatment of all property owners, <br /> regardless of their living arrangements, is fundamental to ensuring fairness and justice in <br /> our community. <br /> Lastly, the transformation of neighborhoods and the potential loss of the unique <br /> character that attracts visitors to our island is a significant concern. We must find a way <br /> to preserve the essence of our communities while accommodating the evolving needs <br /> of both residents and visitors. <br /> Therefore, I respectfully request the Planning Commission to consider the following <br /> recommendations: <br /> 1. Recommend the removal of restrictions about where hosts live and where guests <br /> stay, ensuring fairness and flexibility for property owners. <br /> 2. Recommend streamlining the registration process to make it more accessible and <br /> less invasive for property owners. <br /> 3.
