Aloha Chairman Lin,
As you review your notes on Bill 121 please keep the following in mind- Can the preparer of
the bill tell you:
How many short term rentals will be eliminated because of this latest bill? How many of those
will be willing to rent long term?
How much will the county lose in tax revenues because of this elimination?
How many jobs will be lost because there will be presumably less tourism if the cost of
lodging goes up significantly? How much lost tax revenues will result because of this?
They can't tell you because they didn't even bother looking into it, which is an absolutely
negligent way to make decisions, let alone a decision on behalf of a a multi-billion dollar
economy.
All I ask is that you weigh both the pros and the cons against each other. That is a very
reasonable ask.
