First, Thank you for the opportunity to testify.
I am in support of Bill 123, which would abolish the "ohana dwelling"
permit, redefine ohana dwellings as "accessory dwelling units" and
make changes to where and how such units are allowed to be built.
ADU's are a convenient way to house older or younger family
members. Basically helping with current housing shortage.
This is true in our family. Whereas we have a son currently living in our
ohana. He is able to work on the Big Island and not spend a large
portion of his income on rent. Currently saving to purchase his own
home in the future.
Please note: I Am a Hawaii resident and a register voter living in the
Puna District
