From: business
To: W PCtesti mony
Subject: Punaluu
Date: Sunday, May 12,2024 1:35:04 PM
I have visited and lived on the Big Island of Hawaii since 1973, seeing many changes during
that time. Kailua Kona used to be a beautiful two-lane road with great spots to stop and visit
for everybody to enjoy, just like the southern tip of the Big Island is now.
A big developer with lots of money wants to change all that, and turn it into another Kailua-
Kona situation. Please don't let that happen! The thing that makes Hawaii special is the
beautiful jungle and the beautiful beaches that we all get to enjoy. If The island is sold out to
big developers with lots of money, who close off the beaches to people who aren't spending a
fortune in their hotels, then everyone who lives here loses out as well as other visitors who are
not staying in those particular hotels.
Kailua- Kona has lost its most beautiful beaches to the resorts, and is virtually impossible to
find your way around because of all of the commercial building and huge highways and
gigantic resorts, multi-million dollar vacation homes. I used to go over to Kailua Kona a lot to
visit the beaches, eat at the wonderful restaurants, visit the little stores and just enjoy it. I don't
go over there now because I hate the traffic, can't get to my favorite beaches , and the prices
have skyrocketed in an area where I cannot find any of my favorite places anymore.
Please don't sell out more of Hawaii. There is not that much of the original beauty left. The
Big Island is special because of that, please keep it that way. We still get a ton of visitors who
leave lots of money during their visits, but please leave the rest of it for those of us who
choose to live here or those who were born here and love the Aina..
Julie Blenn
Hawaii Paradise Park.
