Aloha Hawaii County Planning Department,
Hawaiian American Water is planning some maintenance and minor upgrades for a sewer pump station (SPS1a) in the
Mauna Lani Resort. The sewer pump station is in a SMA, so I am writing to inquire whether there is an existing SMA
permit for the resort. I spoke with someone in the West Hawaii office and they suggested I email this address and
inquire whether there is an existing SMA Major permit for the resort. Our hope is that this proposed maintenance and
repair work would be covered under an existing SMA permit and we will not need to apply for a new SMA permit for this
work.
Attachment 2 is a map of the project area, and the sewer pump station is located in TMK 3-6-8-002: 56.
I am available all of next week if you have questions or would like to discuss.
