HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025 CDBG Public Notice #1PUBLIC NOTICE #1 -1- CPS/2025 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS AND REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAI I’S 2025 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM The County of Hawai i’s Office of Housing & Community Development (OHCD) and the State of Hawai i Housing Finance and Development Corporation (HHFDC) are beginning its 2025 Consolidated/Action Plan process for the CDBG program. As required by federal regulations, the County, in conjunction with HHFDC, will hold public hearings on the following dates: Virtual Public Hearing via Zoom In-Person Public Hearing August 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. August 29, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. To register, go to 1990 Kino ole Street, Suite 104 https://tinyurl.com/3nkxzyw5 Hilo, Hawai i 96720 Dial-in: 1-669-254-5252 Meeting ID: 161 117 4414 The purpose of these public hearings is to hear views and comments from citizens on housing and community development needs and the past performance of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) CDBG program. The County encourages its citizens, especially persons of low- and moderate-income, minorities, and non-English speaking persons, as well as persons with disabilities, to participate in the public hearings and share their comments and views. Persons requiring special accommodation may call the OHCD at 808-961-8379 at least ten (10) calendar days prior to the hearings so arrangements can be made. Citizens who are unable to attend these hearings may submit testimony on their housing and community development needs by August 29, 2024 to Susan Kunz, Housing Administrator, 1990 Kino ole Street, Suite 102, Hilo, Hawai i 96720, or by e-mail to ohcdcdbg@hawaiicounty.gov. 2025 CDBG PROJECT PROPOSALS The County is in the process of drafting its next five-year Consolidated Plan (CP) for years 2025-2029. The CP describes the County's housing and community development needs, funding plans, priorities and objectives, and includes the County's Annual Action Plan for the use of CDBG/HOME/HTF program funds. The County of Hawai i is, therefore, seeking project proposals from eligible applicants to include in its 2025 Annual Action Plan to HUD. The goal of the CDBG program is to encourage the development of viable communities by providing decent housing, suitable living environments, and expanding economic opportunities for persons of low- and moderate-income. The County expects to receive approximately $2,600,000 in Program Year 2025. Project proposals will only be accepted electronically through an online application platform which will be available on the OHCD website www.hawaiicounty.gov/cdbg starting September 1, 2024 and will be due by 4:30 p.m. on November 15, 2024.
