Experienced working throughout the State of Hawaii as an environmental consultant for the Department of Education, Department of Transportation, Department of Agriculture, Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii, Maui, and Kauai Counties and commercial and private clients. Served as the statewide public school asbestos inspector/management planner for the Department of Education for 9 years. Experienced in many areas of environmental and hazardous materials consulting including: Phase I & II environmental site assessments, building inspections/surveys, abatement design specifications, abatement work plans, indoor air quality, OSHA monitoring and training and hazardous materials identification, removal and disposal. Detailed descriptions of recent projects are as follows: • Hazardous Materials Survey and Abatement Air Monitoring – Caltech Submillimeter Observatory Decommissioning and Hoku Kea Telescope Decommissioning, Mauna Kea, Big Island, Hawaii Conducted hazardous materials surveys for asbestos-containing materials, lead painted surfaces, arsenic-containing building materials, mercury-containing building materials and PCB-containing materials prior to the decommissioning activities at the observatories. Developed hazardous materials abatement plans for the site. Abatement air monitoring included lead paint, asbestos and arsenic abatement. • Mold Surveys and Remediation, Hazardous Materials Surveys, Soil Surveys and Remediation, Abatement Design and Abatement Air Monitoring for Various Renovation and Demolition Projects – State of Hawaii Department of Education Conducted mold surveys and remediation, soil surveys and remediation, hazardous materials surveys and abatement activities for various renovation projects at the Hawaii DOE public schools throughout Hawaii island and the State. Directed and planned informative meetings regarding hazardous materials abatement and contaminated soil remediation, regulatory requirements and safety protocol with concerned staff and public members. The hazardous materials surveys and abatement included lead paint, asbestos, arsenic, mercury, and PCBs. Soil surveys included metals, pesticides, petroleum and various other suspect contaminants. Developed abatement design specifications for proper handling, removal and disposal of all identified hazardous materials and identified contaminated soils remediation. • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for Various Land Acquisitions – The Nature Conservancy Successfully completed numerous Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for various land acquisitions for The Nature Conservancy on the island of Hawaii, Maui and Kauai in accordance with the USA EPA AAI Final Rule (40 CFR Part 312) and ASTM Standard Practice for ESA (ASTM E1527-13). • Hazardous Materials Surveys, Assessment and Planning for County Facilities – County of Hawaii, Department of Public Works Conducted hazardous materials surveys, damage assessments and abatement activities at the County of Hawaii Department of Public Works facilities island wide. The hazardous materials surveys included lead paint, asbestos, arsenic, mercury, and PCBs.
