From:Christina Magar
To:WPCtestimony
Subject:Christine Magar Oppose Item #8
Date:Tuesday, September 3, 2024 11:09:13 AM
Please hear me.
I am super sensitive to EMF.
I moved to Kohala because the cell service in my area is not strong.
I get terrible migraines, heart palpitations and other symptoms from the cell signals.
I am an Architect, a Building Biologist and Biogeomitrist and have many very sophisticated
instruments that can measure these signals.
The telecommunications Industry chooses to broadcast extremely high signals, far higher then
needed and can cause health problems for many people.
Please do not let the telecommunications industry do what they want without any kind of
permitting and public hearing process. They need to be regulated.
I support Council Member Cindy Evans' proposed telecommunications ordinance, Bill
194, which had already been forwarded to you. The new ordinance proposed by the
Director is too sympathetic to the telecommunications industry with not enough
protections for our community.
It allows for towers and antennas in ALL zoning districts with NO permitting process
and not enough requirements. It gives total power to Planning with no other agencies
involved.
Please consider Council Member Evans proposed ordinance which has clear,
attainable permit requirements. It is the perfect balance between the health, safety
and welfare needs of the people and the needs of the tech industry.
Christine Magar,
a resident of Hawi, Hawaii County
Christina Magar AIA, LEED Fellow
HonorPlanet.com|@christinamagarstudio
808 374 2008
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their
DREAMS.
Eleanor Roosevelt
