Roadway was divided into sections and mitigation priority was based on the presence of hazards in each section, field observations, and road geometry. HALEY & ALDRICH REPORT SUMMARY HALEY & ALDRICH REPORT SUMMARY Will consist of safety improvements that can be quickly addressed, such as removal of overhanging trees and loose soil in the upper sections of the roadway (an approximately 735- foot stretch). Also includes cleaning out and re-establishing roadside ditches and diversion berms. Is entering the design, and construction is expected to be started by Spring 2023 and is anticipated to last 5 weeks. Will require daily road closures during some of the work because material will fall onto the roadway during construction and because the equipment will take up most of the roadway width. Hazard Mitigation Phase 1 (Green Outline): HALEY & ALDRICH REPORT SUMMARY Will consist of more intensive mitigation efforts, such as scaling large rocks from the face of the slope and installing rockfall mesh. May also include drainage and road alignment revisions. Work may take several months. Will require daily road closures during some of the work because material will fall onto the roadway during construction and because the equipment will take up most of the roadway width. Hazard Mitigation Phase 2 (Yellow and Red Outline): HALEY & ALDRICH REPORT SUMMARY Sections 6, 8, and 9 also require additional mitigation (rockfall attenuation fence system). May also include drainage and road alignment revisions. Work may take several months. Will require daily road closures during some of the work because material will fall onto the roadway during construction and because the equipment will take up most of the roadway width.
