Hilo Industrial Area Resurfacing Project to Begin on
Monday, November 4
The County of Hawaii Department of Public Works Engineering Division along with Yamada
and Sons, Inc, will be paving Makaʻala Street, Holomua Street, Poʻokela Street, and Wiwoʻole
Street. Please expect one lane traffic in this area. All roadwork will occur daily, weather
permitting, Monday thru Friday, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Yamada and Sons, Inc will be
preparing the roadway for resurfacing and one lane closures will be starting from November 4.
DPW is requesting the public’s assistance that no cars be parked on the roadside for the duration
of the resurfacing work. Expect one lane closure during the day, with Hawai’i Police Department
directing traffic. Weekly updates are provided on the Department of Public Works website
located at https://hawaii-county-public-works-hawaiicountygis.hub.arcgis.com/ or use the QR
code below.
