Aloha!
Please support Bill 194 because:
- regulating cell towers and antennas is necessary to protect us from their uncontrolled deployment.
Dozens of jurisdictions across the country have adopted laws protecting people and the environment
from the electro-pollution caused by wireless radiation. Doing the same here reflects what we, the people
want.
- Council Member Evans introduced the bill in response to the community's needs. It includes 5G small
wireless facilities, which must be regulated. Hawaii County already passed a resolution to halt 5G. Bill 194
follows up on that by providing necessary regulations that include 5G small cells.
- after the devastating fires on Maui, legislation like this is needed to protect our homes and businesses.
Cell towers have caused large, damaging wildfires in other states and Bill 194 contains requirements to
prevent fires
- it requires an emergency power shut-off on towers and antennas. This is crucial for our protection.
- it contains a property line set-back requirement. We get very intense winds here and if a tower were to
topple over it could cause serious harm to those who live nearby. We need this for our protection and
safety.
