I am writing in support of Hawaii Island Community Development Corporation's application to construct 43 single family, affordable housing units, within my district. The applicant has complied with all the requirements for this project and will help to fulfill an overwhelming need for housing on our island. The process that the applicant follows, in order to provide this housing, involves approved families, contributing to their home purchase, via sweat equity. This project will enable those with limited savings, the ability to move into a home of their own. This requirement will allow long term, local residents the ability to continue their employment during the regular work week and meet the eligibility requirements by contributing their labor on weekends.
