Radio Call Signs for Mutual Aid Partners; American Medical Response (AMR) and
Pōhakuloa Training Area Department of Army Fire Protection Services (PTA) Policy

This procedure is for internal use only and does not enlarge an employee’s civil liability in any way. The procedure should not be construed as creating a higher duty of care, in an evidentiary sense, with respect to third party civil claims
against employees. A violation of this procedure, if proven, can only form the basis of a complaint by this department for non-judicial administrative action in accordance with the laws governing employee discipline.

Applicable HI Statutes:
I. PURPOSE This policy gives procedures for quick and efficient use of Motorola Radios and Call Signs in communications with AMR and PTA. II. APPLICABILITY
This Policy is applicable to Radio Communications with AMR, PTA, and the HFD.
III. POLICY A. American Medical Response (AMR) Call Sign Unit Type Unit Base of Operations
AMR-1 ALS Ambulance Unit Hilo
AMR-6 ALS Ambulance Unit Kona AMR-9 ALS Ambulance Unit Waimea Note: These units may be assigned to perform cross island/multi-district medical transfer services and standby in other areas as dispatched by the AMR dispatch
center, however, the units will retain their designated call sign at all times.
