Subject:Adrienne Hew OPPOSITION to Item #8 on Hawaii Counties Agenda

As a taxpayer, voter, and citizen of the state of Hawaii, I oppose item 8. The new
ordinance proposed by the Director is overly sympathetic to the telecommunications
industry without regard for our community. And don’t pretend that this is about jobs,
because we all know that’s a boldfaced lie.
Item 8 allows for towers and antennas in ALL zoning districts with NO permitting
process and not enough requirements to be met. It gives total power to Planning with
no other agencies involved.
I support Council Member Cindy Evans' proposed telecommunications ordinance,
Bill 194, which has already been forwarded to you. Her proposed ordinance has clear,
attainable permit requirements. It is the perfect balance between the health, safety
and welfare needs of the people and the needs of the tech industry.
