Aloha Planning commission,
I oppose Item #4. I do support Council Member Cindy Evans' proposed
telecommunications ordinance, Bill 194, which has already been forwarded
to you. The new ordinance that was proposed by the Director is overly
sympathetic to the telecommunications industry it does not do enough to
protect our Hawaii Island communities from the ill affects of 5G.
It gives almost total decision making power to Planning with no other
agencies or experts involved! It rushes the approval process to only 30
days! It has no provisions to protect us against 5G small cells and
allows towers at schools and day care centers!
Please do the right thing and consider Council Member Evans proposed
ordinance which has clear, attainable requirements. It is the perfect
balance between the health, safety and welfare needs of the people and
the needs of the tech industry.
