Aloha to all Hawaii County law makers and administrators involved with the Agenda.
I oppose item 8 because I support Council Member Cindy Evans' proposed
telecommunications ordinance, Bill 194, already forwarded to you. T
The new ordinance proposed by the Director is too sympathetic to the
telecommunications industry with not enough protections for our community.
It allows for towers and antennas in ALL zoning districts with NO permitting process
and not enough requirements. It gives total power to Planning with no other agencies
involved.
This is unacceptable as it disregards the health and agency of our keiki, kupuna, aina
and all living things!
Our wellbeing is much more valuable than the money and other resources that would
line the pockets of those who are influenced to usher-in these measures weighed in
favor of corporations like the Telcoms (who never lead with the risks and already
proven health hazards).
Please consider Council Member Evans proposed ordinance which has clear,
attainable permit requirements. It is the perfect balance between the health, safety
and welfare needs of the people and the needs of the tech industry.
