Comm. 25-007
From: John Carse
To: PONC Testimonv
Subject: Testimony
Date: Wednesday,January 8,2025 3:43:03 PM
Dear Commissioners,
I would like to provide testimony concerning the Na Maka Haloa O Waipio
2025 Stewardship Grant for Pohoiki. When this organization was given $119,519.00 in 2021, one of the
conditions was that annual overviews be provided. Has this documentation been provided? If so, when
will it be available for public review? If not, why not?
Also, the 2021 grant included the purchase of an all-terrain vehicle. Has this been bought? If so,
where is it and what is it being used for?
Since this is the only forum I know of to discuss the Pohoiki PONC land purchased by the County in
2017, 1 would like to include some additional concerns. There are now No Trespassing signs posted on
this parcel (photographs attached). Who put them there and why? Also, absolutely no one knows where
the property line of this parcel is. How can we get the Pohoiki PONC land surveyed and the boundaries
clearly marked?
Also, is there a more recent biological survey of the parcel than Flora-Fauna Study of the Pohoiki
PONC Property published in October 2017? If so, is it available to the public? Is the archeological
survey done in 2016 available? Has a more recent archeological survey been done? Is it available to the
public?
And finally, how did the community-at-large benefit from the $119,519.00 Stewardship Grant for the
improvement of Pohoiki awarded to Na Maka Haloa O Waipio in 2021?
Sincerely,
John Carse
wp rf``" rrru rel/ + , ..r .i` "' °,• r a
4
,
y
y
a
r
o
t-
