PLACE: HAWAI`I COUNTY BUILDING, COUNCIL CHAMBERS 25 AUPUNI ST., SUITE 1401, HILO, HI CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL PUBLIC STATEMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS Statements from the public regarding any particular item on the agenda will be taken now or at the time the particular item is called to order. APPROVAL OF MINUTES • December 12, 2024, regular and executive sessions. FIRE CHIEF'S REPORT • State of Department and Highlights • Budget • Human Resources • Emergency Operations Division • Support Services Division • Capital Improvements • Chief's Briefing UNFINISHED BUSINESS • Election of Chair and Vice Chair of the Hawaii County Fire Commission for 2025, per Rule 5(a)(1). NEW BUSINESS • Training on parliamentary procedure, ethics, Sunshine Law, and Fire Commission Rules. Hawai`i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. EXECUTIVE SESSION (CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC) For the following agenda items, the commission will meet in executive session to consider the evaluation of the Fire Chief, where consideration of matters affecting privacy will be involved, and may consult with the board's attorney on questions and issues pertaining to the commission's powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities pursuant to HRS 92-5 (a)(2)(4) and the Hawaii County Charter Section 13-20 (b). • Discussion on the comments originally included in the Fire Chiefs evaluation, providing commissioners with context and clarification to better understand the intent and meaning of the comments. (EXECUTIVE SESSION — CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC) (RETURN TO OPEN SESSION) AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING ANNOUNCEMENTS The commission's next monthly meeting is scheduled for February 27, 2025, at 9.00 a.m., at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Building A, Council Chambers, 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Kailua-Kona, HI. ADJOURNMENT Submitting Testimony: Those wishing to testify in person should register with the Commission Secretary at the meeting. Those submitting written testimony at the meeting should bring 10 copies for distribution. Testimony may be submitted by (1) mail to Fire Commission 101 Pauahi St., Suite 9, Hilo, HI 96720; or (2) by email to Charisse.Correa@hawaiicounty.gov. Please submit separate testimony for each item. All oral and written testimony will be public record. Notice to Lobbyists: If you are a lobbyist, you must register with the Hawaii County Clerk within five days of becoming a lobbyist [Article 15, Section 2-91.3(b), Hawaii County Code]. A lobbyist means "any individual engaged for pay or other consideration who spends more than five hours in any month or $275 in any six-month period for the purpose of attempting to influence legislative or administrative action by communicating or urging others to communicate with public officials." [Article 15, Section 2-91.3(a) (6), Hawai`i County Code] Registration forms and expenditure report documents are available at the Office of the County Clerk, 25 Aupuni St., Room 1402, Hilo.
