Aloha Windward planing commission team,
I am sending this message to urge the commission to grant a special use permit for the Falls on
Fire event that gets put on each year.
I attended the event this past year with my husband and it was one of the highlights of my
entire year. It brought a community of like minded people together. In our day and age with
life being so busy it's become a rarity that's deeply needed. It is very respectful and organized
in such a way that it is not intrusive to the neighborhood. It brings the culture of burning man-
which emphasizes radical self reliance, radical inclusion, gifting, de modification , radical self
expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, participation, and leave no trace. Which all
ironically are aligned with living Aloha. People coming together once a year to be happy,
while participating in building a stronger community has positive ripple effects across the
entire island community.
One unhappy person opposing this event is a sign the group is doing a good thing not the
single unhappy individual trying to bring others down to his sad level.
So for the reasons listed above I respectfully ask that you please issue a special use permit for
this event moving forward.
