I am writing to highly recommend Ho`oulu Lahui as the steward for the county parcel (14
properties) located at Kumukahi. As a dedicated and impactful organization, Ho`oulu Lahui has
consistently demonstrated a profound commitment to environmental conservation, community
engagement, sustainable land management through cultural preservation, education and
community stewardship.
Over the past 30 years, Ho`oulu Lahui has undertaken numerous projects that have significantly
benefited our community and environment. Their initiatives have ranged from habitat restoration
and invasive species control to educational programs and volunteer coordination. Each project
is marked by meticulous planning, effective execution, and measurable positive outcomes.
One of the most notable works by Ho`oulu Lahui is the consistent and relative ability to work
with the Puna community and other communities in Hawaii on the maintenance of iwi kupuna
and work towards culturally sound resolutions. This work has been fostering a strong sense of
environmental stewardship among local residents.
Ho`oulu Lahui is comprised of highly skilled professionals and passionate volunteers who bring
a wealth of knowledge and experience to their work. Their collaborative approach ensures that

Given their proven track record, I am confident that Ho`oulu Lahui is the ideal steward for the
county parcel. Their expertise in land management, combined with their dedication to preserving

responsibility.
