County and the Board of Trustees of the police officers, firefighters, and band members as provided by law. Authority: Hawai‘i County Charter, Section 6-6.4
Appointment: Mayor with Council approval. Normal five-year staggered terms. Full Membership: Five members. Ex-Officio Members: County Clerk and the Director of Finance.
Specific Representation: None required. Requirements: The Pension Board shall be attached to the Department of Finance. The County Clerk shall serve as ex-officio secretary and the
Director of Finance shall serve as ex-officio treasurer. Meetings: Normally the last Monday of February, May, August, and November, 1:30 p.m., in the Hilo Council Chamber.
Financial Disclosure: Members must file a Financial Disclosure within 20 working days of taking office. Thereafter, annual disclosures must be filed on or before January 31. The disclosures are confidential and will be kept on file by the Board of Ethics. County Code, Chapter 2,
Section 2-91.1.
Reappointment: Following the expiration of a term no member may be reappointed for at least two years.
Qualities: Respected by the community as being community-minded and
oriented. Able to focus on the community needs as a whole without catering to special or self-interest. Current Members: Cathy Ferreira (Chair) = 12/31/28
