Hintz Testimony - Support From: casab236 To: LPCtestimonv Subject: Written testimony RE: Permit PL-SMA 2025-000072;TMK(3)7-5-020:021 Date: Friday,May 9,2025 12:47:11 PM Brent A Hintz Owner, Casa De Emdeko 75-6082 Ali'i Drive, 9236 Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 Casab236@aol.com 5/9/2025 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing as a concerned and invested owner at Casa De Emdeko regarding the vacant lot next door on Alii Drive. I strongly support the proposed new condominium development on this site and urge local decision-makers to move forward with approval. For years, this undeveloped lot has been an ongoing source of blight and public safety concerns. It has become a magnet for illegal activity, including homeless encampments, drug use, and frequent littering. There have been multiple incidents of hypodermic needles found in our parking lot, and at least one significant three-alarm fire caused by activity on the property. More disturbingly, homeless individuals have broken into Casa De Emdeko units and have been found sleeping or passed out within our property lines, putting residents and guests at risk. The Hawaii Police Department have been called out multiple times for these trespassing and burglary incidents. The current state of the lot is not only unsightly but dangerous. The Casa Board has been dealing with these problems for years. The current situation has devalued our property. Allowing this property to remain unused only prolongs the threat to the surrounding community. A well-designed, well-managed condo development would eliminate these safety hazards and beautify the area while also contributing positively to the housing supply. As a longtime stakeholder, I respectfully ask that this project be approved and moved forward without further delay. Sincerely, Brent A. Hintz Owner, Casa De Emdeko 4236 Sent from my Galaxy
