Subject: Support for New Condo Construction Adjacent to Casa De Emdeko
Dear Land Planning Hawaii Team,
As an owner at Casa De Emdeko, I am writing to express my full support for the proposed
new condominium development on the vacant lot adjacent to our property along Alii Drive.
This parcel has unfortunately become a persistent eyesore and a serious safety concern for
residents and visitors alike. Over the years, it has been overrun with trash, drug activity, and
homelessness. Our community has endured multiple issues as a direct result, including:
• A three-alarm fire caused by activity on the lot
• The presence of hypodermic needles in our parking area
• Repeated break-ins to our units
• Homeless individuals sleeping or passed out on our property
These ongoing problems negatively impact not only property values, but the well-being and
sense of security of everyone who lives at or visits Casa De Emdeko.
We strongly believe that responsible development of this site will transform it from a
dangerous nuisance into a valued part of the neighborhood. A well-managed residential
project will improve safety, aesthetics, and contribute to the local economy and housing
supply.
