Introductfon: We are thrilled to introduce a visionary concept to create a multfpurpose
community space for the old Malama Market that will serve as a dynamic center for
collaboratfon, creatfvity, and resilience. This innovatfve space aims to address the diverse needs
and aspiratfons of Puna, providing shared opportunitfes for creatfve expression, skill
development, entrepreneurship, and building a crisis center to deal with natural catastrophes.
By combining shared working spaces, a makery, workshops, theatrical performances, artfsan
goods sales, an entrepreneur hub, a commercial kitchen, a market for locally grown produce,
and a resilience hub, this multfpurpose space will become the heart of community engagement
and growth.
Shared Working Space: Puna Ola will feature a modern working area, designed to
accommodate individuals, startups, and businesses of all sizes. With transformable
workstatfons, reliable high-speed internet, meetfng rooms, and essentfal amenitfes, this space
will foster collaboratfon, networking, and productfvity. It will be a place where professionals can
connect, exchange ideas, and create a thriving ecosystem of innovatfon.
Makery: This community space will establish a cutting-edge makery, equipped with
state-of-the-art tools and resources for makers, artfsts, and craftsmen. This creatfve haven will
provide opportunitfes for individuals to explore various artfstfc disciplines, from woodworking
and metalworking to textfle design and digital fabricatfon. Through workshops, open studios,
and shared resources, the makery will inspire creatfvity, skill development, and artfstfc
expression.
Workshops: The multfuse space will offer a wide range of workshops and trainings to
cater to the diverse interests and needs of our community. These workshops will cover areas
such as entrepreneurship, technology, art, wellness, sustainable practfces, and more. By
providing accessible and enriching learning experiences, we aim to empower individuals, foster
personal growth, and cultfvate a culture of lifelong learning.
Theatrical Performances: Our space will boast a dedicated area for theatrical
performances, nurturing the performing arts and providing a platiorm for local talent. With a
state-of-the-art stage, advanced lightfng and sound systems, and comfortable seatfng, this space
will bring live entertainment to Puna. From plays and musicals to dance performances and
spoken word events, the theater will foster creatfvity, cultural appreciatfon, and community
engagement. There will also be a live recording studio.
Artfsan Goods Marketplace: The multfuse space will house a regular marketplace where
local artfsans can showcase and sell their unique, handcrafted goods. From jewelry and
ceramics to artwork and textfles, the marketplace will celebrate the skill and creatfvity of Puna.
By supportfng local artfsans, we aim to promote sustainable practfces, foster economic growth,
and encourage a sense of pride in our local craftsman.
Entrepreneur Hub: This community space will serve as a dedicated hub for
entrepreneurs, offering resources, mentorship, and networking opportunitfes to help turn ideas
into successful ventures. Through incubatfon programs, access to funding sources, and a
supportfve community, we will empower aspiring entrepreneurs and drive innovatfon and
economic development.
Market for locally grown produce: To promote sustainable living and support local
farmers, the multfuse space will host a regular market for locally grown produce. This market
will be a celebratfon of fresh, healthy, and locally sourced food, providing an avenue for farmers
to connect directly with the community. We will create a commercial kitchen that can be used
to produce value-added products appealing to both the local community and those visitfng the
island. By promotfng local agriculture, we aim to strengthen the bond between producers and
consumers, fostering a sense of environmental responsibility and health-consciousness.
Resilience Hub: In tfmes of crisis, our space will transform into a resilience hub, providing
a safe and prepared environment for the community. It will serve as a resource center, offering
training on emergency preparedness, disaster response, and community resilience building.
Puna Ola will become a beacon of strength, providing support and coordinatfon during
challenging tfmes.
