Dear Respected Windward Planning Commissioners,
I write to respectfully request that the Windward Planning Commission
oppose the request to rezone the subject lot on Old Volcano Highway to
CV-20.
As someone who was born and raised here in Volcano Village, I recognize
the importance of balancing the preservation of our natural resources with
place-based economic enterprises. However, commercial development in
Volcano Village should take place in areas designated as "Moderate
Density Urban" and "Village and Neighborhood Commercial" zoning, all of
which already exist elsewhere in Volcano. Permitting this rezone request to
move forward would set an undesirable precedent for adjoining
landowners to also request rezoning to commercial status. As such, I
respectfully request that the Windward Planning Commission deny this
rezoning application.
