Francis Kuailani (Water Board Members); Milton Pavao, Manager;
Quirino Antonio, Jr., Deputy Manager; Kanani Aton, Public
Information and Education Specialist; Richard Tsunoda, Waterworks
Controller; Richard Sumada, Assistant Waterworks Controller; Kurt
Inaba, Engineering Division Head; Daryl Ikeda, Chief of Operations;
Gerald Takase, Deputy Corporation Counsel
CALL TO ORDER: 9:44 a.m.
CHAIRMAN GOYA: Will the public hearing of the Water Board on the proposed
Operating Budget and Capital Improvements Budget for the
Department of Water Supply for the Fiscal Year 2008 -2009 please
come to order.
My name is Tom Goya, Chairman of the Water Board, and the
members of the Water Board and Staff who are here this morning
are: Let's go around the table and have everyone introduce
yourselves.
VARIOUS: Quirino Antonio, Deputy Manager; Robert Meierdiercks; Gerald
Takase from the Office of the Corporation Counsel; George Harai,
Commissioner; Francis Kuailani, Commissioner; Milton Pavao,
Water Supply; Daryl Ikeda, Water Supply; Richard Tsunoda, Water
Supply; Kurt Inaba, Water Supply; Kanani Aton, Water Supply; Rick
Sumada, Water Supply.
CHAIRMAN GOYA: Thank you all for introducing yourselves. The Water Board, under
Section 8 -2(c) of the Hawaii County Charter shall adopt the
Operating and Capital Improvements Budget for the Department of
Water Supply; and under the hearing and advertising provision of
Section 10 -4, Hawaii County Charter, did publish public hearing
notices in the Hawaii Tribune - Herald and in the West Hawaii Today
on March 14 and 16, 2008.
CHAIRMAN GOYA: We are here this morning to accept testimony on the budgets. Is
there anyone in the audience who wishes to testify? For the record,
please state your name and organization, if any. There being no one
here to testify, I would like to entertain a motion that this public
hearing be closed. Do I hear a Motion from a Board Member?
G. HARAI: So move.
R. MEIERDIERCKS: Second.
CHAIRMAN GOYA: Discussion? Hearing none, it has been moved and seconded that the
public hearing is closed. All those in favor say "aye."
BOARD MEMBERS: Unanimous ayes.
CHAIRMAN GOYA: Opposed? (none) Motion is carried. Thank you.
