F. PERMITS/APPROVALS (See Instructions for examples of permits/approvals. Remember
that it is the applicant's responsibility to comply with and secure all necessary approvals and
permits from federal, state, and county agencies as required.)
Do any of the proposed stewardship activities require any federal, state, or county permits
or approvals?
If yes, explain why. If not needed, explain why.
Yes. For the survey of land we will need a DLOFAW state park access or research permit.
For the removal of invasive plants, we need a DOFAW special use/management permit.
For planting of native species, we need US Fish and wildlife permit. Because our project involves
federally listed species and critical habitat, we might need a permit under the endangered species
act.
Since Kawa is culturally sensitive, we will likely need a SHPD archealogical review.

This project aligns closely with the project management plan introduced in 2017, which highlights
the cultural significance of Kawa, and the native plants and animals in which Kawa has suitable
habitat.
2. If you are proposing to produce a management and/or preservation plan, please explain
why such additional planning is needed.
