Correspondence 70 dated May 9, 2001, from Paul Kawaguchi, Clerk of the State Senate, regarding Senate Resolution No. 68, S.D. 1, which was adopted by the Senate. Correspondence 71 dated May 15, 2001, from Lincoln Ashida, Corporation Counsel, legal opinion that ex parte contacts are not permissible. Correspondence 72 dated May 25, 2001, copy of letter to Lincoln Ashida, Corporation Counsel, from Christine Paul and Thomas Russi regarding their complaint to Mayor Kim and Corporation Counsel's determination. Correspondence 73 dated May 25, 2001, from Thomas Russi and Christine Paul regarding freedom of information request under Part III, UIPA. Request that the agenda of May 18, 2001, be corrected to reflect that correspondence 63 was addressed to Christine Paul and Thomas Russi. Correspondence 75 dated May 29, 2001, from Vice Chair Dwight Manago requesting a reconsideration of the commission's decision to refer Complaint HPC 01 -17 to its investigator. Correspondence 76 received June 1, 2001, regarding Complaint HPC 00 -77. Complainant requests a reconsideration of the commission's decision that the officer acted in a lawful and proper manner. Correspondence 77 dated June 8, 2001, regarding Complaint HPC 00 -59. Complainant requests a reconsideration of the commission's decision that the officers acted in a lawful and proper manner. Police Commission Meeting Page 3 June 15, 2001 EXECUTIVE SESSION To consider charges brought against officers of the Hawaii County Police Department where matters affecting privacy will be considered and a closed meeting is requested by individuals involved and to consult with Corporation Counsel on questions and issues pertaining to the commission's powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities. • Status report of complaints referred to the Police Chief. • Consideration of Complaint HPC 01 -18. Complainants alleged that an officer demanded to speak to her husband and threatened to have their children taken away by CPS. Reconsideration of Complaint HPC 00 -42 (motion made at previous meeting). • Correspondence 75, request for reconsideration of the commission's decision to refer Complaint HPC 01 -17 to investigator. • Correspondence 76, request for reconsideration of the commission's decision that the officer in Complaint HPC 00 -77 acted in a lawful and proper manner. • Correspondence 77, request for reconsideration of the commission's decision that the officers in Complaint 00 -59 acted in a lawful and proper manner. ACTION ON EXECUTIVE SESSION MATTERS ANNOUNCEMENTS The next monthly meeting will be special meeting scheduled for July 27, 2001, at 10:00 a.m., in the Hawaii County Council Room, 25 Aupuni St., Hilo.
