Kimo Alameda, Ph.D. Mayor AGENDA CULTURAL RESOURCES COMMISSION COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the following matters to be considered by the Hawai‘i County Cultural Resources Commission (CRC) in accordance with the provisions of Chapters 91 and 92, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes and Chapter 2, Article 44 of the Hawai‘i County Code. NOTE: Pursuant to Act 220, Session Laws of Hawai‘i 2021, which amended the Sunshine Law to allow meetings to be remotely conducted online, effective January 1, 2022, the Cultural Resources Commission meetings will be held online, and the location listed below for the public to provide testimony on agenda items. The meeting can be viewed live online or at the location listed below. DATE: Wednesday, January 14, 2026 TIME: 10:00 AM LOCATION: Puna Conference Room – Hawaiʻi County Building 25 Aupuni Street, Suite 1501, Hilo, HI 96720 INTERACTIVE CONFERENCE TECHNOLOGY (ICT): Cultural Resources Commission Members and applicants may participate in this meeting either via the Zoom interactive video conference platform or by attending the meeting in person. The public will be able to view and listen to the meeting at: https://www.youtube.com/@cohplanningdepartment/streams. Testimony may be given upon registering via the Zoom link, or at the in-person location provided. Minutes of the Cultural Resources Commission meeting will be transcribed and posted on the Planning Department’s website. CALL TO ORDER STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – Pursuant to HRS 92-3 interested persons that want to provide oral testimony may do so either at the time the board takes public statements on the agenda or at the time the specific agenda item is called or as otherwise allowed at the sole discretion of the Chair. Review and Comment on Proposed Testing Strategy for an Archaeological Inventory Survey for the Hawaiian Island Fiber Link Project (PL-CRC-2025-000038) Location: PACRC and UH Hilo, Waiākea Ahupuaʻa, South Hilo District, Island of Hawaiʻi TMK: (3) 2-1-009:001 (por.), 2-1-009:041 (por.), 2-1-011:004 (por.), 2-1-011:005 (por.), 2-1- 011:010 (por.), 2-4-001:167 (por.). ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS Approval of minutes for the meeting held on December 10, 2025. Election of Chair and Vice Chair of the Cultural Resources Commission for the year 2026. Next meeting tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, 2026. ADJOURNMENT Submitting Testimony: Written testimony may be submitted before 2:00 PM on the business day prior to the meeting by email to crc@hawaiicounty.gov. Mail or hand-deliver written testimony to Hilo Planning Department at 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 3, Hilo, Hawaiʻi 96720. Please submit separate testimony for each item. The public may provide verbal testimony at the meeting location provided or by calling into the Zoom meeting. If you are a lobbyist, you must register with the Hawai‘i County Clerk within five days of becoming a lobbyist [Article 15, Section 2-91.3 (b), Hawai‘i County Code]. A lobbyist means “any individual engaged for pay or other consideration who spends more than five hours in any month or $275 in any six-month period for the purpose of attempting to influence legislative or administrative action by communicating or urging others to communicate with public officials.” [Article 15, Section 2-91.3(a) (6), Hawai‘i County Code].
