Hawaii Police Commission Page 2 January 21, 2005 COMMUNICATIONS • Honolulu Police Commission Minutes of July 21, August 18, and November 3, 2004. • Maui Police Commission Minutes of November 17 and December 15, 2004. • Correspondence 04 -87, from Roy Ledward requesting the commission's assistance in locating his missing money following his arrest. • Correspondence 04 -88, from Reuben Chun, providing supplemental information on Complaint HPC 04 -26. • Correspondence 04 -89, from the Kauai Police Commission informing of the 2005 State of Hawaii Police Commissioners' Conference, May 12 -13, 2005. • Correspondence 04 -90, from Corporation Counsel Ashida requesting that Commissioners Hara, Manago, and Muller holdover as Police Commissioner for an additional 90 days as provided in the County Charter. • Correspondence 04 -91, from Sharon Selwyn with a second request for reconsideration of Complaint HPC 04 -39. • Correspondence 04 -92, from the Salary Commission requesting the Police Commission's input into compensation for department heads at its subcommittee meeting on January 21, 2005. • Correspondence 04 -93, from Deputy Chief Kubojiri with the Police Department's Budget Narrative that summarizes their past accomplishments and future plans. • Correspondence 05 -01, from Chief Mahuna with the Police Department's Annual Misconduct Report to the State Legislature. • Correspondence 05 -02, from Richard Fuller expressing concern over police reports no longer being available over the Myna Bird radio show because of the Police Department's new computer. He requests access. • Correspondence 05 -03, from Corporation Counsel Ashida regarding R. Peterson's letter to West Hawaii Today on December 7, 2004, in which he expressed concern about drug offenders being arrested and then released. Mr. Ashida explained the process involved in arresting and charging a person. • Correspondence 05 -04, from Leslie Thuet expressing concern over the lack of adequate personnel for the Police Department. • Correspondence 05 -05, from Chief Mahuna informing of the Police Department's budget review meeting with Finance Director William Takaba on January 12, 2005. • Correspondence 05 -06, from Legislative Auditor David Frankel informing of the tentative County Council Budget and Program Review for each department and what information should be provided to the Council. Complaint HPC 04 -06: Complainant requests a reconsideration of the commission's decision to exonerate the officers in his complaint about the manner in which he was treated while high on ice. (Second request.) Complaint HPC 04 -07: Complainant requests a reconsideration of the commission's decision to exonerate the officer in his complaint about the manner in which he was treated while high on ice. He also requests compensation. (Second request.) Complaint HPC 04 -39: Complainant requests a reconsideration of the commission's decision to exonerate the officer in her complaint about the manner in which she was treated during her arrest. (Second request.) • Complainant requests information on Complaint HPC 04 -29 and criminal case. • Investigation and Deliberation of Complaints. Complaint HPC 04 -48: Complainant was cited for going 73 mph in a 55 mph zone. He alleged that the officer was rude and was either wrong or lying. Complaint HPC 04 -51: Complainant stated that HI -PAL conducted a basketball tournament. He alleged that those who attended took all the parking, and when he complained, the announcer brushed him off by saying that it was public parking.
