HAWAII COUNTY POLICE COMMISSION <br />REGULAR SESSION MINUTES <br />NOVEMBER 14, 2008 <br />DEPARTMENT OF LIQUOR CONTROL <br />INVOCATION <br />Commissioner Kaoiwi gave an invocation. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Lassiter called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Pudding Lassiter, Chair Also Present: Lincoln S. Ashida, Corporation Counsel <br />Thomas P. Whittemore, Vice Chair Josie Pelayo, Secretary <br />Richard J. Behenna, Commissioner <br />Louis Kaoiwi, Commissioner <br />Melvin S. Morimoto, Commissioner <br />Anita Politano Steckel, Commissioner <br />Michael B. Sumja, Commissioner <br />Absent: Karolyn P. Lundkvist, Commissioner <br />A quorum was present. <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Commissioner Kaoiwi moved to approve the agenda. Vice Chair Whittemore seconded <br />the motion, and it carried unanimously. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS — None. <br />CORRESPONDENCE 08 -27, POLICE DEPARTMENT'S YEAR -END <br />ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2008 — Reviewed for evaluation. <br />ANNUAL PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF POLICE CHIEF LAWRENCE MAHUNA <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />Commissioner Sumja moved to meet in executive session to conduct an annual <br />performance evaluation of Police Chief Lawrence Mahuna where consideration of <br />matters affecting privacy will be involved and a closed session is requested by Chief <br />Mahuna and to consult with Corporation Counsel on questions and issues pertaining to <br />the commission's powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities pursuant to HRS <br />92 -5 (a) (2) and Hawaii County Charter 13 -20 (b). Vice Chair Whittemore seconded the <br />motion, and it carried unanimously. <br />Executive session convened at 5:15 p.m. <br />Regular session reconvened at 8:40 p.m. <br />
