Dear Commissioners,
My name is Walter Polchlopek and my wife Mary Anne and I own the lot right next door to
the Krzyzanowski property, directly down the hill on the makai side. Our TMK is (3) 9-2-040:001. We wanted to write and let you know that we are in full support of what they're
trying to do, and we hope you'll vote to approve it. We’ve talked with the Krzyzanowski family a few times over the years, and we think that it's just terrific for a nice young man like
Jack to be to do something the proper way with a real permit application. We could use more of that, not less.
We have had our parcel up there for some time now and we have seen how things have gone
in upper Ocean View. To be honest with you, a lot of it isn't good. Folks throw up shacks and sheds without a permit and it just doesn't feel the way a neighborhood is supposed to feel. Jack
and his dad Mark are doing it the proper way. Going through the County. Filing the application. Getting it reviewed. Standing in front of the Commission with their name on it.
And most important of all, having somebody live on that property full-time. That's what our part of Ocean View needs. A real resident. Somebody who is invested in the place and is
going to be there year in and year out.
We also wanted to say, frankly, that we think it matters which way the Commission decides on this one. If the County turns down the people who follow the rules, then the message you end
up sending is that the rules are only for those who choose to listen and everyone else can do whatever they want and hope nobody notices. We don't think that is the message you want to
send, and it certainly isn't the message we want to see sent to our neighbor.
Thank you for your time and for reading our letter. Please approve this application.
Thank you,
Walter E. Polchlopek Mary Anne Polchlopek
