Comm 26-100
Honorable Commissioners,
Thank you for the opportunity to provide testimony on this matter. I am writing to request that
PONC purchase TMK 3-4-5-002-081-0000, a 37.92-acre property situated on the ocean cliffs at
the base of Honokaa Town.
I strongly support this acquisition because it represents a rare opportunity to preserve a
significant stretch of oceanfront land with exceptional natural and community value. This
property features deep soil, existing electric and water meters, and the ability to connect to
County sewer. It is located less than a five-minute drive from Downtown Honokaa, making it
both accessible and practical for community management. People regularly fish from the cliffs
above for their daily meals, underscoring its importance as a local resource.
While I understand that there may be concerns regarding cost or competing priorities, I believe
opportunity. Currently listed at $1,950,000, there is no other property of this scale on Hawaii
Island with deep soil and these attributes available at this price. Preserving nearly 38 acres of
oceanfront open space is an opportunity that may not come again.
I am asking the Commissioners consider the long-term Hawaii Island benefit, environmental
preservation, and keeping large open spaces open all the while knowing that the people of
Hamakua and the people of Hawaii Island deserve to retain this land for future generations.
I respectfully urge the County of Hawaii to support the purchase of this property and to act
promptly to secure this unique opportunity.
Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration. Dont hesitate to contact me with
questions or comments at (808) 345-2591.
Sincerely,
Stacy Punahele Disney, RB-21687
Disney Associates, LLC
Stacy@stacydisney.com
