BUILDING, PUEO CONFERENCE ROOM 25 AUPUNI STREET, SUITE 2601 CALL TO ORDER Chair Parks called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. ATTENDANCE Present: Kaycie Lynn Parks, Chair Skye Narvaez , Vice Chair Casey-Leigh Sabate Hauanio Shylalyn Gacusana Cristina Holt (Via Zoom) Also present: Micah Alameda J Yoshimoto Deputy Corporation Counsel Shy-Ann Medeiros Office of Aging Office of Aging Alika Cockett Equal Opportunity Officer and the Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC a. Zahava Zaidoff: Thanked the committee for their work and the Mayor for recognizing explaining its origins with Autism Speaks and concerns about perpetuating stigma. Advocated for lighting it up in gold or red (Autistic Self Advocacy Network symbols) rather than blue, to promote true inclusion. b. Jobette Nabarro: Zoo for people with disabilities. Noted that Bayada clients and their support staff previously used the Zoo during client hours, but the recent $4 entry fee has become a barrier. Requested consideration for a monthly payment arrangement between Bayada clients and staff could enter for free or at a discounted rate. Emphasized the importance of community access and inclusion for people with disabilities. APPROVAL OF MINUTES a. Approval of the meeting minutes of January 5, 2025. Chair Parks called for public testimony. There being no public testimony, the meeting continued as follows. Action: Chair Parks called for a motion to approve. A motion was made by Member Shy Gacusana to approve the regular meeting minutes of January 5, 2025, which was seconded by Vice Chair Narvaez. The motion was carried by a vote of 5:0. February 2, 2026 BUSINESS a. Proclamation for Autism Acceptance Month The committee discussed a Mayor's proclamation for April 2026 as Autism Acceptance Month. Public testimony and committee discussion emphasized shifting from blue lighting to gold lighting as a symbol of acceptance and inclusion. b. Discussion: Resource Table for Upcoming Events Committee discussed setting up a resource table at upcoming community events (e.g., ). Purpose: increase awareness of the MCPD, distribute information, and connect with the community. Discussed potential materials (brochures, resource directories) and logistics (covering, staffing, coordination). Shyla and Skye volunteered to help staff the table. Committee to follow up on scheduling, materials, and support needs. ANNOUNCEMENTS a.
