SUBJECT: AB MAUI QUARRIES, LLC. (PL-SPP-2026-000121)
Dear Chair Au and Commissioners:
The application in front of the Leeward Planning Commission is for a Special Permit to
construct and operate a concrete and asphalt batch plant and maintenance shop, office
building, and warehouse for mechanical repair and storage and related accessory uses
on a 14.9-acre portion of a 934.7-acre property within the State Land Use Agriculture
District. The subject property is located on the south side of Waikoloa Road,
approximately 3.2 miles east of its intersection with Queen Ka`ahumanu Highway,
Waikoloa, South Kohala, Hawaii, TMK: (3) 6-8001 .067 por.
Land Use Commission Staff note that the application is for accessory buildings for
quarry operations adjacent to an existing special permit (SP 833/ SP92-381) for
quarrying.
Land Use Commission Staff suggests that questions be asked on the record that clarify-,
the relationship (if any) between the two quarrying operations, shared ownership, and
the use of shared access roads.
