Like many families on Hawaiʻi Island, we depend on the rental income from our
hosted ʻohana unit to make living in Hawaiʻi financially possible. The income helps
offset the high cost of our mortgage, utilities, insurance, and everyday expenses,
allowing us to remain part of the community we love. Beyond supporting our family,
visitors who stay with us contribute directly to the island's economy by supporting
local restaurants, shops, activity providers, and service businesses. Responsible hosted rentals like ours, helps to provide important housing choices for travelers while
also helping residents maintain economic stability.
