Please support Bill 154. Publicly owned parking facilities allow the public to have a say in where parking facilities are located, how they are managed, what they charge, and how they handle disputes such as towing for unpaid fees. Private facilities are geared towards the interests of a limited number of people. But publicly owned facilities are more likely to be aligned with broad goals for land use, transportation, safety, disability access, avoidance of traffic jams, and other issues--goals developed and refined with public input. Public facilities’ policies regarding fees, consequences for misuse, and other issues will be more uniform than the confusing patchwork with various private lots. Public facilities can also provide some revenue for the County. Mahalo for your consideration.
