Dear Chair Au and Members of the Leeward Planning Commission,
I am writing as a Kona resident and parent to express my strong support for the Special Use Permit application (Application
#PL-SPP-2026-000128E) for Kona Aerials Gymnastics at 75-438 Hualālai Road, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.
My daughter has been part of the competitive gymnastics program for the past five years, and we have personally seen how
much the program has contributed to her growth—not only as an athlete, but as a young woman. Through gymnastics, she has
developed confidence, discipline, perseverance, strength of character, and a greater understanding of her own value and
capabilities.
Kona Aerials is so much more than a place to participate in a sport. The coaches invest in the whole child and encourage
young women to become strong, capable, and confident individuals. Our experience has been so meaningful that we recently
enrolled our other daughter as well because we truly believe in what this program is instilling in our children.
Kona Aerials is a gem for our community. Having a place where young women can develop physically while also being
surrounded by coaches and teammates who encourage, challenge, and pour into their character is incredibly valuable. The
lessons they learn—perseverance, responsibility, respect, teamwork, and believing in themselves—will extend well beyond
the gym and into their education, future careers, relationships, and the broader community.
The facility at 75-438 Hualālai Road provides an important and specialized space for this program, allowing local athletes to
train safely and consistently while giving families throughout West Hawaiʻi access to meaningful youth athletics and
development. There is nowhere else like this on island!
I respectfully ask the Leeward Planning Commission to approve Application #PL-SPP-2026-000128E and allow Kona Aerials
Gymnastics to continue serving the children and families of our community.
Thank you for your time, your service, and your thoughtful consideration of this application. I hope you will recognize the
tremendous value Kona Aerials brings to the young people of Hawaiʻi and support its continued operation.
