I am writing this letter to express my strong, unequivocal support for Kona Aerials
retaining their Special Use Permit in Kona, Hawaii.
Kona Aerials provides an irreplaceable service to local families, athletes, and the
broader community. It serves as a vital hub for youth development, physical fitness, and
athletic excellence on the Big Island. Gymnastics helps children build total-body
strength, superior balance, and extreme flexibility. It serves as a foundational sport that
develops body control and spatial awareness, setting up a healthy active lifestyle and
providing motor skills that make it easier to learn any other sport later in life.
Why Kona Aerials is Essential to Our Community
• Athletic Development: The facility offers high-quality training that allows local
athletes to pursue gymnastics and aerial arts safely. Without this permit, these
dedicated athletes would lose their training ground and competitive
opportunities.
• Support for Families: Kona Aerials provides a safe, positive, and structured
environment for children. It offers working parents their peace of mind, knowing
their children are learning life skills like discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
• Community Health and Well-being: In a time where keeping youth active is more
important than ever, Kona Aerials promotes lifelong physical fitness and mental
well-being for participants of all ages.
Kona Aerials is not just a business; it is a cornerstone of the community infrastructure.
Revoking or restricting their Special Use Permit would create a massive void for
hundreds of local families who rely on their programs.
I respectfully urge the planning commission to approve the renewal of the Special Use
Permit for Kona Aerials so they can continue their invaluable work for the youth and
families of Kona.
