Aloha Chair Dean Au and Members of the Leeward
Planning Commission,
I am writing in strong support of the special use permit
for Kona Aerials Gymnastics.
I have been a parent at Kona Aerials for the past 18
years with my youngest currently a member of the
competitive team. This gym has been a second home to
us. It has provided my girls with not only high quality
gymnastics training, but also confidence, discipline,
friendships, and a safe positive environment where they
have grown into the people they are today.
There is simply nowhere else in Kona that offers what
Kona Aerials provides. If this permit is not approved,
families like mine would have no local gymnastics facility
to continue training. For many children, including my
daughter, this would mean losing a sport they love and
have dedicated years of hard work to.
Kona Aerials is an important part of our community. It
gives children a healthy, structured place to learn, grow,
and stay active. Coach Nanette has invested so much
into helping our keiki succeed, and the gym has
positively impacted countless families over the years.
I respectfully ask that you approve Application #PL-SPP-
2026-000128 so Kona Aerials can continue serving the
children and families of West Hawaiʻi.
