Kailua Kona Hawaii 96740. 808-960-4914 My husband George and I have been residents of Hawaii Island for 39 years, full time home owners on Holua Rd since 1998. I will be attending the County Council meeting on Friday August 14th at 9:30 am, to testify against Trade Wind Productions in favor of Jeffery Darrow Planning Director of Hawai'i County. 3-5 minutes isn't enough time to explain what transpired over a two month period. I am sending some photos ahcad I'Or your viewing. I thought it to be outrageous when I saw that only ONE photo from me ,yas accepted as evidence. I have photos almost daily from July 31-Sept 19 2025 each one time stamped. 5 photos were accepted from Shawn Pila, dated in October in the AM before sunrise over Hualalai. Did that slip by? Those photos were taken on another filming at 78-133 Ehukai post permit time. It is evident by the time stamp he submitted. This is just another lie, and he is trying to pull one over on the county, as not to have to pay the fine. Saying they weren't lit is outrageous. Shawn Pila, Trade wind Productions were in total disregard of the permit issued by Planning Director of Hawai'i County Jeffery Darrow for the filming of Temptation Island. They stared early with their own lighting before the pros came August 14, 2025. I witnessed daily the disrespect of Trade Wind production, Shaun Pila and his hui. They shone Lights directly into our home on purpose, keeping us up at night. We were not able to sleep, which became a detriment to my husband's health. He is a disabled senior suffering from traumatic brain injury. They were dismissive of all agreements of their permit pertaining to the lighting, disruption of eco system with lights shining in the water nightly, blocking of local right to pass on the rocks. My hanai daughter and I took our Sunday afternoon kayak, we were ID'd and harassed by 4 men from that production. They came out on the rocks photographed us while we were in the water. I was so upset that I had my husband call the police and make a report. I respect that the police were busy at that time and was assured that they would call or visit later. Instead, Officer Powers went directly to the location of Temptation Island and the officer made a false police report against me and my daughter saying we were harassing them. Officer Powers never came to take the reporting parties information. These same men had been to our home weeks prior to try to buy us off, and then brought their "Top Fixer" from LA offering bribes. Sat right at our table!!! We of course said there was no amount of S that could persuade us to di�rc, Epcct Hawaii let alone Keauhou Bay, and our integrity. So many groups and agencies have worked for years to protect the ancestral history of Keauhou Bay, Birthplace of Kamehameha 111, playground of the kings during Makahiki season. Some of these people and groups include my teacher and Kupuna, Aunty Lily Kong, Barbara Norbriga, the Daughters of Kamehameha, Kamehameha Schools, Aquatics. Kama'aina Homeowners, like myself, continue to work tirelessly. We take pride in maintaining the History of this beautiful Historical Keauhou Bay and its valuable resources. I will close in saying that 2 addresses should have been fined $10,000 each. 78-133 and 78-131 Ehukai St. These two separate TMK`s; two separate owners, were on one permit, the violation came from both properties. A $10,000 fine in my opinion is too lenient. The price is almost laughable to a film company producing for Netflix. I am hopeful moving forward all of these things will be taken into consideration when allowing filming in Keauhou Bay. I pray that it will be kept to things that are culturally respectful to our ancestors, children, and acceptable to our community and their heritage.
