FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT
Prepared by the Department of Finance per Section 15-4 of the County Charter, County of
Hawaiʻi.
PROPOSAL NO. 1
COUNTY AUDITOR’S POWER TO EMPLOY: Shall the Hawaiʻi County Charter be
amended to allow the County Auditor to hire a deputy and exercise the same power, with respect
to the employees within the Auditor’s office, as the department heads in the executive branch?
FISCAL IMPACT: This proposal could increase annual expenditures by approximately
$263,000. The estimate includes salary costs based on comparable deputy positions within the
County of Hawaiʻi, as well as associated fringe benefits and other personnel-related costs.
