My name is Chad Porter with Smith Marion located in both CA and TN. I am a partner with the firm my direct cell phone number is 951-415-7284 and my email is cporter@smco.cpa. The firm has been in pracƟce for over 30 years starƟng back in 1983, I have been with the firm since 1996. The firm currently has 50 full-Ɵme employees with some seasonal help during tax season. We have been this size for the past five years. As I stated before I am a CPA and also a CFE (CerƟfied Fraud Examiner). I have held those licenses since 1998 and 2001 respecƟvely. I am in good standing in both CA and TN (I have dual licenses) and the CFE is naƟonwide. I regularly aƩend HUD training and I also perform training for HUD REAC, many state society Housing AuthoriƟes along with NAHRO and SERC trainings. I am the main trainer for our firm. CHAD PORTER BACKGROUND Chad entered public accounting in 1996 and has over 25 years of professional experience encompassing audit, accounting, consulting, and tax services. His industry experience includes governmental clients, clients in the government assisted housing industry, tax credit housing industry, real estate, construction contractors, mortgage lenders and not-for-profits.Chad leads SMCo’s public housing authority audit practice. In addition to acting as the engagement partner on many public housing authority audits, he performed concurring reviews on virtually all the firm's other public housing authority audits. Being a regular presenter to many state and national PHA associations, Chad has proven to be a leader on issues related to HUD compliance and GASB reporting. Additionally, he has built a large network of professionals at GASB, HUD, and other PHA industry experts and leaders.
