Support Bill 170 with strongest language possible to stop the creation of data centers on our island.
Aloha commissioners,
Amazing the hubbub data centers are creating around the world. The anger and antipathy is
palpable. And no wonder. How would you like to live next to one? And would you like your keiki to have their water sources sucked dry by one—or more— of them?
I’m asking that language in this bill be tightened to maximum strength to stop any legal
runarounds that can, and will, be used. I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t know the strongest language, but those who do know have provided you with language that will prevent our
island from being sterilized by these resource-sucking entities. I implore you to heed their suggestions by incorporating that language into this bill — language that will insure Hawai`i
Island can never be used in the production of the energy used to power AI.
Mahalo for doing the sacred job you’ve volunteered for: to insure that land use planning serves the humans that live on and depend upon our island’s intact natural resources for
decent, balanced, healthy lives.
Mahalo and sincerely,
Janice Palma-Glennie
