Testimony to Support the Ban of Data Processing Center On Moku o Hawaiʻi, or Any
Other Island within Our Archipelago

Aloha Kākou,
I, Jordan Pōlani Monderen, write this testimony from faith that it will be given the
space to fully be read, felt, and considered. This is in lieu of the September 24th, 2026
public session regarding banning the use of the Leeward side of Moku o Hawaiʻi as a
data processing center. As kanaka ʻōiwi it is my responsibility to speak on behalf of the
ʻāina when she clearly calls for advocates to be her voice when others do not heed her
signals. This testimony is from personal reflections and understandings, and will simply
address the metaphysical from a felt sense while acknowledging where science
supports this conviction.
Our culture is not built on simple practices or beliefs, it is innately curated through how
we breathe, process, and participate with life and death. We as kanaka know that as an
individual we are a system within a system, within a system; in other words our bodies
respond and process on behalf of our environment. On a larger scale, we observe how
the ʻāina that we stand upon systemically responds to the world. For years, she has
been signaling and forewarning that there is an exponentially growing imbalance
between the organic system and the artificial one developing.
Scientifically speaking, every action has an equal or opposite reaction, and we as
kānaka have been witnessing how the impacts of the artificial system is not reciprocal to
sustaining life of the organic system, and is therefore causing many adverse effects
within our waters and sky, and more recently noticing how the literal Earth beneath our
feet is shifting from the lopsided weight of these actions. It is a proven fact that all life on
Earth contains elements of water, it is also known that without water there would be no
life. Water can only transmute so much heat before it shifts into another state, that may
or may not ever be converted back to living water, due to the hyper functionality of
artificial intelligence and other global warming issues we are facing. What living water
we have we must protect. Furthermore, we know that physical matter in the midst of
water will be the first to ground static energy when water becomes too polarized,
meaning our dear Papahānaumokuākea is being directly affected in response to the
waters being impacted. These known, simple facts are enough for me to say ʻaʻole nō to
any part of Kō Hawaiʻi Pae ʻĀina being an industrial data processing center.
By typing my name above, I acknowledge, agree, and confirm that my typed name constitutes my legal electronic signature and
manifest intent to be bound by this testimony to the same extent as a physical handwritten signature.
Testimony to Support the Ban of Data Processing Center On Moku o Hawaiʻi, or Any
Other Island within Our Archipelago

I cannot allow, nor tolerate the consideration of such. My heart aches on behalf of our
Earth already alchemizing so much in response to human implementations. In many
ways, the Hawaiian Archipelago is already processing so much on behalf of the world.
We are the first land mass for thousands of miles, in addition to being positioned, nearly
center, of what is known as the Ring of Fire. Those who are in true relation to the ʻāina
already see the detrimental effects of global warming impacting us and our world. When
the tides shift we feel it, when the heat rises Pele signals, when the exhaust from the
artificial realm catches on our wind currents our lungs recognize it.
Both on a metaphysical and scientific level we know that water will absorb, transfer, and
transmute. However, we also know that to date there is no way to replace or recreate
water in its life giving state. Meaning, that if we deplete or manipulate our water we are
impacting life at a global scale for generations to come. This year, 2026 alone, has
presented many symptoms that are beckoning us to remedy it, not exasperate them. At
the most minimal level of evidence is this El Nino and the many storms it has attracted.
In a more in depth look, the heat of our waters is both the cause and effect of the fact
we are microwaving and diminishing life itself.
To honor time and capacity, this is my testimony in the most simple and straight forward
way. There are many more reasons, examples, and first hand experiences that I could
share but choose to exclude in order to keep the above reasoning clear and concise. In
closing, I reiterate, this testimony is to personally say I as a child of this land support the
banning of data processing centers on Moku o Hawaiʻi, and any other island within our
archipelago, now and forever. I, and many others, will not allow this sacred land to be
manipulated, misrepresented, or misused.
Aloha Mā,
Jordan Pōlani Monderen
