Aloha,
In regards to Bill 170, I support the idea behind the bill and not have Data Centers as permitted use in Hawaii
County. This being said the bill does need an amendment defining Data Centers and Data Processing Centers as they
are are two distinctly different things. It would be a substantial error to lump them in the same category. It seems
premature to create regulations without a clear idea of their needs and definitions. It seems like there is a real
possibility of the larger mega resource consuming Data Centers of using the loophole that allows the much smaller
data processing centers that are currently permitted. It would be the proverbial wolf in sheep’s clothing.
