Cra-i P`, >N_NG FPT200KoholaStreetSEP29202SL143„ ')Hilo, HI 96720 Dear Mr. Miprano: HAND FLIVEED Subject: Water Demand Calculations for KBXtreme Hilo Tax Map Key 2- 3-037:006 We have reviewed the water demand calculations for the proposed development and find them acceptable. Based on the calculations provided, the estimated average daily usage is estimated at 15,240 gallons per day GPD) which is equivalent to 39 units of water at 400 GPD per unit and with peak-flows estimated at 68 gallons per minute(GPM). Therefore a 2-inch meter will be required. Currently, there is an existing 5/8-inch meter(Account No. 300-58600)serving this property and is adequate for only one(1) unit of water at an average of 400 gallons per day. Water can be made available from an existing 8-inch waterline within Ponahawai Street and from an existing 12-inch waterline within Komohana Street, both fronting the subject parcel. Therefore, pursuant to Rule 5 of the Department's Rules and Regulations, a copy of which is being forwarded to the applicant, a water commitment may be issued. Based on the 38 additional water units requested in the proposed 39 unit development, the required water commitment deposit is$5,700.00. Remittance by the applicant of the deposit is requested as soon as possible so that a water commitment may be formally issued. The commitment will be in writing with specific conditions and effective dates stated. Please keep in mind that this letter shall not be construed as a water commitment. In other words, unless a water commitment is officially issued, water availability is subject to change without notice, depending on the water situation. Prior to granting water service to the subject development, the applicant will be required to comply with the following conditions: 1.Construct necessary water system improvements, which shall include, but not be limited to: a. installation of a 2 %-inch service lateral to accommodate a 2-inch meter, b. cut and plug the existing service lateral to the 5/8-inch meter serving the property, and c. installation of a reduced pressure type backflow prevention assembly within five (5) feet of the meter on private property, the installation of which must be inspected and approved by the Department before water service can be activated.
