Subject: Bill 170--favorable recommendation

Aloha Commissioners,
I'm writing in favor of the intent of Bill 170, which seeks to pre-emptively ban hyperscale AI
data centers from our island. I request that you please send this bill to the full County Council with a favorable recommendation, and to ask the Council to strengthen the definition of these
data centers which NO ONE on our island wants--before passing the bill into law. The definition must be strong enough to withstand the pressure of developer attorneys finding
loopholes to exploit.
I am, like so many other island residents, fervently against creating any possibility of these data centers being built on our island. As we've experienced multiple times during natural
disasters of recent years, we are a resilient community but our ʻāina is fragile and our natural resources are extremely finite, especially in the age of climate change. Our infrastructure
cannot handle the relentless insatiable needs for water and electricity that these data centers demand, and no one wants the increased utility bills that happen in every community they're
built in. Further, the ongoing 24/7 loud noise they produce ruins communities and lives, and sinks property values.
Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of this bill. Please pass it on to the County
Council with a favorable recommendation, and a request to strengthen the definition of these hyperscale AI data centers.
Thank you.
Vanessa Floyd
