<br />ADA Coordinator Activities <br />December 2006 <br />ADA - Title II & S. 504 <br />Reported broken detectable warning on Kileaua Avenue to Highways <br />Division Department of Public Works (DPW); <br />Forwarded complaint re inaccessible traffic signal on Kamehameha <br />Avenue to Department of Public Works; <br />Forwarded complaint re State Housing facility to Office of Housing and <br />Community Development; <br />Received information from Department of Parks and Recreation re <br />modification to provide access to Richardson’s Beach Park; <br />Forwarded complaint re lack of notification regarding spraying of <br />herbicide on Kapoho/Pahoa Rd. to Hawaii Department of Transportation’s <br />ADA Coordinator; <br />Discussed Kauai’s practices re spraying of herbicide and notification with <br />ADA Coordinator, Kauai; sent memo to our departments who spray <br />herbicide requesting public be informed of such activities in advance; <br />Forwarded a complaint re lack of accessible telephones outside Hilo <br />Public Safety Building to Police Chief with suggestions for resolution; <br />Responded to inquiry from Office of the Prosecuting Attorney re modifying <br />volunteer program for a person with back problems; <br />Responded to inquiry from Mass Transit Agency re complaint that sidewalk <br />outside Mooheau Bus Terminal is not 60” wide; <br />Forwarded issues relating to effective communications with persons who <br />are deaf to Police; <br />Provided feedback to Department of Public Works, Engineering Division <br />Head on new Curb Cut Request Procedures and Form; <br />Attended two meetings with representatives from Corporation Counsel, <br />Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Works to discuss <br />appointment of Court Monitor for Transition Plans and County’s need for <br />Project Managers; <br />Met with Department of Parks and Recreation Department and <br />Corporation Counsel to discuss service and therapy animals at the zoo; <br />ADA Title I <br />Reviewed New York Times article on diabetes in the workplace and <br />contradictions inherent in the law; <br />Reviewed Ninth Circuit decision regarding complaint UPS discriminated <br />against employees with hearing impairments. <br />ADA Title III <br />Responded to inquiry from Building Supply Company re accessible house <br />plans; <br />Responded to inquiry regarding charges for visual fire alarms for non-profit <br />agency. <br /> <br />
